Too much fun for such a simple game
I cannot explain why, but I love Shotgun Farmers. It is simple, easy to understand and fast paced. In Shotgun Farmers, you create a farmer, put a nice hat on his head and start blasting other farmers in Death Match games, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, etc. etc. There are over 30 game modes, although many game modes play the same.

What makes this game unique, aside from the obvious fact that you use fruit and vegetables to blast your opponents, is that you can plant your weapons by shooting the ground. It will then grow for a while, giving you a fresh new ammo supply. When done right, you can use one weapon forever.

The graphics are as simple as ever, but that does not matter for this simple concept. It is sometimes a little rough to see stuff, especially when under water.

The classic Farm music, the narration of the Redneck Farmer and the sound effects are great and enhances my experience with the game. This is an example of how easy good sound design can be.

The controls are fluent and easy to pick up. The hit detection works surprisingly well. When playing solo, the bots are incredibly stupid, but luckily, you can adjust their skill level in the menu when creating a match.

Apart from the Death Match stuff, you can also play a Wave Shooter Zombie survival mode. Here, you survive 50 waves of zombies, before eventually killing a boss. I found this mode to be the most fun, although the progression is slow as a snail.

The only problem I have with this game is the achievements. I like unlocking and collecting them, and sure, some effort and time should be put into them, but in this game, they are as grindy as ever. The “Make this many kills with this weapon” kinds are fine, but one achievement states: “Prestige 5 – Master Farmer”. This means that you need to level up five-hundred-f*kin-times to unlock it. One level takes forever so roughly calculated you spent a month of nonstop grinding to reach this.

Overall, I think Shotgun Farmers is a really fun game. With friends it is hilarious, and I can play for hours on end. It is constantly being updated and it has a good content to price ratio.

I would surely recommend this game.
