Stray is an indie game with quite a unique protagonist – a cat. It was an interesting choice to have an isolated cyberpunk city as the enviroment, but it worked out great. The city allows for a lot of vertical exploration.
Given the size of the development team, the technical aspect of the game is really good. The most impressive thing about it is the way they were able to simulate the movement and mannerisms of a cat. It feels very natural, with fluid controls. The soundtrack is also well made, and it really complements the atmosphere of the game.
What I find a bit lacking is the actual gameplay. There are some puzzles, but there aren't many of them and they are very basic. There's some combat and stealth, but it also seems bare bones. It's functional, but nothing more. I found it more fun just hopping around on the roofs and exploring the city.
It really makes me wish for a sequel built on the same foundation, but with more developed gameplay.

I finished Stray on the XBox!
Ein sehr schönes Spiel wie ich finde und wenn man Katzen in irgendeiner Form mag, sollte man das so oder so unbedingt Spielen. Das Warten bis es auf die XBox kam hat sich am Ende doch ein wenig gelohnt und ich hab mich gefreut, als es dann endlich da war. Ihr spielt eine Katze und müsst euch durch eine Welt durchschlagen, bei der man glaubt es sei alles verloren. Die Welt hat auch etwas von unserer Welt, nur das es keine Menschen mehr gibt, sondern Roboter. Eure Aufgabe ist es mit der Katze und eurem Freund vllt. doch ein erlösendes Paradies zu finden wo Frieden herscht und man keine Angst haben muss vor den Wächtern die Verhindern wollen, dass man besagtes Land findet. Ich finde, dass die Entwickler das besonders Gameplaytechnisch richtig gut hinbekommen haben. Man hat das Gefühl wirklich ne Katze zu spielen, auch wenn mir beim schlafen manchmal bisschen zu statisch rüberkommt, besonders wenn man sich die Ohren anschaut währenddessen. Storymäßig ist das Game auch gut erzählt wie ich finde da macht es nichts falsch. Ich hatte während meiner Session einen Grafikbug wo man die Batterie des Zuges holen sollte, ich hoffe das das noch gefixt wird aber ansonsten gibts für mich ne Absolute Empfehlung für das Spiel! - Das Game ist auch nicht soo lang in der Theorie kann man es unter 2 Stunden schaffen, wofür es ne Trophy gibt. Ich hab es in 10 Stunden ungefähr abgeschlossen, was auch ganz ok ist wie ich finde. 5 von 5 Katzen
