(7.8) A satisfying Metroidvania whose gameplay keeps the game afloat despite having a bad narrative
After way too many years, Prince of Persia is back. And boy, it was a good game. At least, i want to say that, despite 4 stars.
The gameplay flows really well, the abilities are also great and well paced too. Every new ability meant a new tool to improve your gameplan, so the gameplay was kept fresh thanks to new mechanics being progressively introduced with a good pace.
The map is well made, with some gripes on Backtracking, sometimes feeling a bit too long than expected. The puzzles, while varied and well made, tend to become a chore due to being at times too long.
The story is such a disaster in comparison. The plot feels frozen after the good start, with the overall story and character building becoming stale very quick. It really doesn't hold much. Indeed, the only thing that's well done is the Worldbuilding part of the narrative. Which is quite good. The ending hardly feels satisfying.
Overall, i'd suggest to buy the game on a sale. While i do think the game is worth playing, the asking price feels too high.
